The Moment, one single split second of time

The name of this painting is The Moment. The artist is Gregory Perillo. Many moons back in 1994 when I began my studio photography business and was considering a name, it came to me quickly, The Moment Photography. The name comes from the feeling I felt when viewing Gregory Perillo's painting, as well as the title he bestowed upon it. Utter contentment. I felt the artist had captured the beautiful feeling of true love at that particular moment in time. It seemed that was the same feeling I strove to capture, to document in the photographs I was making!

So still it goes the same way. A single glance, the look in one's eye, the turn of a head, the joy of romantic love, the heartbeat of motherhood. A moment sees all these things and so do I. Thankfully still marching the earth with my Nikon in hand capturing the moments of this beautiful life!

The Womens Business Forum has become a treasured organization for myself and many others. What began for me as a place to meet other self employed women and learn more about continuing to grow my business, has evolved to a sisterhood, a family, and a very big presence in my life!

The WBF had a Winter Social the other night and I mentioned that nary a day goes by that I'm not interacting on a business or personal level with someone from this group. It's benefitted me in countless ways and I am grateful to having fallen in with such an extraordinary group of individuals.

I walk the walk, living with art

I get to thinking of my love for photography, it's depth and passion make it an extension of my being. Not a day's gone by that I have not looked at a photograph and been moved by it. And it's funny, one sliver of time can have such remarkable impact. A still image, one particular moment on the earth, someone lifted a camera to their eye, framed a piece of life and pressed the shutter. Recording moments, preserving bits of time, to gaze upon and see, learn, understand, or feel what it was like to look at life through the eyes of another. How exceptional!

My home studio is testament that I walk the walk. I live with my pictures, mostly of those I love and experience this lovely world with, or scenes of the natural world that settle or engage me. I've got many books too, of the photographic works of others that inspire me to look at things in new ways or wonder at their creation, or think upon their meaning, or feel the time when the image was made. These works of poets and painters, musicians, even advertisers are all points to ponder and then take away newfound inspiration to mix into my own world of creative photographic art. Yep, it's my business, it's been my career, is always my passion, but most of all is supreme joy! All moments happen but once and isn't it extraordinary to capture a few, to relive while we are here!

The Art of Wedding Day Details

Beautiful things are part of life, part of love, part of a wedding. As a wedding photographer I derive great pleasure in artistically documenting all the details of a wedding day. Before you even get to the people you've got the flowers, invitation, accessories, wedding gown, shoes and jewelry. These treasures deserve to be captured with spirit and soul and then enjoyed as small pieces of art, remembrances of true love on a wedding day. Of course the ceremony is of the utmost importance as are the bride and groom, it goes without saying, right. Though I cannot help but continually come back to enjoying the photographs of the details with their color, or monotone, or fabric and texture, light and shadow. Playing with the composition, exposure, lighting, and lenses my goal is to capture the special pieces of a wedding with emotion and flair.

Here's to weddings and love and couples and the little traditions that make up a wedding and become pieces of art unto themselves!

A Bit of Boudoir!

A few years ago I started a personal photography project called In All Her Glory, derived from my love of photography, fashion, fantasy, dreams, and the idea of seeing the beauty in each and every woman. As a culture we are bombarded with images of beautiful models and celebrities which is cool, and there is always someone to admire or a look or style to emulate, but I think each of us possesses a unique and special beauty that is purely ours, like no one else.

One reason I feel so strongly about the beauty of everyday women, is I photograph many women every year and the moment I begin to see them through my lens with no distraction of any kind, it seems something about them begins to speak to me. Perhaps it's their eyes, their skin, the animation in the look they give, their smile, or their confidence. I see all ages of women, women with vastly different styles and personalities. They come as high school seniors, engaged women, brides, and women wanting to create a legacy portrait or even a sexy boudoir or pin up style photograph, all tasteful images to share with a love interest.

As the new year begins to dawn upon us, another holiday looms ahead, Valentine's Day. Cupids & Arrows, Love, Sweets, Hearts, Red, all symbols of February 14th! In honor of Love and the beating heart here are a few of the beautiful women I have gotten to photograph as we created images, some boudoir, some fashion-y, but all showing the beauty of everyday women!

One of life's best times

It's the moments, the days and nights, the months spent waiting for a baby to arrive that are some of the best times of a woman's life. Imagination soars wondering what this new being will be like and how this new baby will change your life. As a photographer, documenting this time for a mother-to-be is especially heartwarming. It's a chance to witness another form of true human love, and the love and care that exists between a couple as they wait for their new arrival. Recently I worked photographing Brittany and Matt's Maternity Session in Britt's family's barn and around their home. We had some wonderful morning sunlight with which to work and the wood and the hay, the beams and the feeling created in this homestead was magical. I hope I was able to translate those feelings into imagery. I hope these maternity photos warm your heart!

Photographing Kids As They Grow

How cool is it to photograph someone from the time they were born throughout their lives! I've had the good fortune to have that happen over and over with newborns growing to kids, and kids growing to teens, and teens growing up and getting married! It never stops being amazing witnessing and documenting the lives of others in photographs that will most likely be parts of family histories.

Last week in the light of late afternoon in the flowery fields of early autumn I photographed little Arianna in honor of her 3rd birthday. It was so much fun engaging her and watching her sense of wonder with the flowers, little bugs, and butterflies. When photographing small children there are always smiles and laughter. But this photo shoot had chases, trips and falls, wet tights, shoes falling off, muddy knees, and more laughter. Happy Birthday Arianna! Great working with you again!

Of course the wedding vows would not be complete without the exchange of wedding rings but the ring is not the only symbol of true love on the wedding day. Much thought and research along with many daydreams bring about the style of the day, the color scheme, the something borrowed's, something blue's. Love stories are usually behind the scenes, found among the flowers, the dress, the jewelry, the decor, the cake and all the pieces carefully selected and painstakingly managed by the bride to be. These items truly tell the story of romantic dreams coming true. I've been photographing weddings for 18 years and some of my favorite images are made of the details. I hope you will enjoy seeing a few recent selections that I particularly enjoy.

Technology Increases Productivity

Whoooooosh! So it's a time for photographs! In the last month photo shoots have varied from Headshots, Kids Portraits, Weddings, Senior Portraits, Baby Showers, Horses, Guitar Product Catalog, to Business Expos and Glamour Shoots. What a whirlwind of people, places, and events! Somehow I am keeping it together though and technology is surely a help. Google Chrome, a Seagate portable hard drive, Nikon D700, 16 GB CFcards, Hand Held continuous lighting source...all part of this months additions to my studio and workflow! Gotta love how the techno world figures things out for us and makes products better, faster, and easier to use. So bring it on world, can handle the workload with way modern technology a true partner in business!

Summer Crops & Photo Opps!

It's one of those things that grabs a hold of you and offers such joy while it lasts...like a great song on the radio, a sunset, a fabulous glass of cabernet, or a kiss from a loved one. Cornfields, this thing that has filled my senses with the warmest of feelings. I cannot get enough of them! Witnessing the fields grow all summer long till finally the tallest, greenest, sky reaching-est crop, it's like the stalks are saying I am gonna be first to touch the big ball of blue sky. Well I just love these cornfields. I drive by and around them in every direction from my home so watching them get to peak and now turning toward autumn has been a daily wonder for months now. So much so that I was inspired to venture out to them with my camera and a few open minded subjects ....my take on children of the corn....High school kids of the corn. Enjoy, they'll soon be gone from view until next summer! Peace.

Photography at Sunrise

It's is so much fun for a fashion photographer when the client is adventurous and open to stretching boundaries in a photo shoot. Karen is that client! Game for anything and wanting an Intimate Fashion Photo Shoot at the Beach, we knew this was gonna be a great shoot. Aiming for beautiful light we had the truck packed with camera gear and wardrobe the night before so we could pull out from PA at 3:30 a.m. Made it to Long Beach Island about 5 minutes prior to sunrise. Mother Nature never fails to deliver on gorgeous light and what a spectacle yesterday morning as she slowly rose over the ocean and shed the most gorgeous golden glow upon beach and us! We were ready and being experienced photographers using outdoor light we knew we had to work fast. Nary a person in sight, and eventually just a few fisherman became our audience. Working the off camera light and reflectors we were able to supplement the sunlight and create radiant imagery. The tide rolled in and out and all over both Karen and me but luckily with the help of our assistants Heather and Cheyenne all camera gear was spared! It was a blast and we were all so into it. Five cameras shooting all angles and even some behind the scenes! Toward the end of our shoot, as it became full daylight and the beach began to fill with other sunbathers and walkers, we drew a crowd. And how funny is it but the beach crowd must have thought we were famous as their cameras turned on us. Who knows whose facebook we are on today. Well worth all the energy and effort and here's a taste of us working, and beautiful Karen in the later summer sunrise light. Enjoy!

Photographic Moments in the lives of others

It has been awhile, too long since I have blogged and that is because I have been crazy busy! Know the feeling? I have been thinking about being a witness to beauty. Since I can remember, even back to childhood, as a preteen I would ponder life. I'd think about all the happenings and people in my life and then I would swirl that up poeticly inside of my head. It made me feel good to think and I'd enjoy my life even more when I thought about it. Somehow that makes sense to me. Lately things have been hard personally. I have had my share of tough times and still trying to work through challenges in hopes of coming through shining, glowing even. So to get there I call to mind the greatness and breathe in the joy, the wonder, and exhale my bits of this beautiful life.

Been fortunate in many ways and my camera and me have wandered in and out of peoples lives leaving a trace, a photograph. A moment, just a bitty moment in time that documents where they are, their milestone, their happiness, their strength, their beauty! There is not a more perfect medium for me and I wish that I will always be able to play this part in the lives of others. For it brings them joy, yes. But it brings me a life well lived.

A Milestone Birthday in Late Winter at Cheyenne's

Two weeks ago on a chilly Friday afternoon friends and family gathered to celebrate Ginny's 90th birthday! What a milestone! I was thrilled to be on hand to document the party. Ginny was amazing! Lively and happily, she experienced her surprise gathering. Hugs to all, she made her way around the house to greet those that came to wish her well and celebrate this monumentous birthday with her. Gorgeous Flowers, Tasty Snacks, cookies, and cake and warm tea topped off the party. I love this aspect of my job, getting to meet and enjoy new people. Simply a lovely way to spend my afternoon! These days so many couples are opting to save money on all their wedding expenses and sure this is a great idea and for many a necessity. It is important however that you make yourself aware of all the options before deciding on a selection just because it sounds less expensive. This is especially true when it comes to making decisions on how you would like to showcase your beautiful wedding photography. At The Moment Photography we are sensitive to the needs and desires of the couples we work with and therefore offer many different ways to bring the imagery to life depending on your wishes.

Take the Green bride and groom searching for ways to make an eco conscious celebration of their union. Of course it helps if your photographer is making green strides but there are photo products that are environmentally smart also. More printing companies are offering alternative archival papers that use less energy to create, even canvases prints can now be green. Or perhaps Virtual Imagery is the optimal choice. In addition to keeping all the images made on your wedding day on disc, favorites can be retouched or enhanced and Still Image Videos to music, the next generation slideshows offer a dynamic and exciting viewing experience. These shows can be hosted and shared online or burned to disc as a backup!

If you are the Artistic couple, appeal may stem from the variety of new mediums on which to have imagery printed. Two years ago our studio began offer Waxworks, a print made on fine art paper, mounted to wood and in a multi step practice wax is applied in layers, scraped away and brushed until an entirely new version of the image is born. These presentations are stunning and have been a hit among many of our most discriminating clients. Metal is also making a splash on walls and requires no frame. A most exciting presentation is metal in a split image. A fully custom creation whereby the selected image gets divided into individual prints of three or four different pieces and hung to create one whole image. It’s the unexpected that is generating buzz in photography these days. Impact in high gloss is achieved by printing on acrylic which has metal standouts projecting the piece just a bit off the wall. Remarkably vivid color reproduction is a feature of acrylic prints.

A September Wedding in the Rolling Countryside of Bucks County

This past fall Autumn and I had the great pleasure and fortune of photographing the wedding of Brittany and Matthew in the rural countryside of Upper Bucks County. From the moment we entered Brittany's parents home we were swept up in the bustling excitement of the kind of wedding day every girl dreams of. Brit's wedding dress was hanging in the 3rd floor room of stone and wood that overlooked the grounds where the ceremony and reception would take place that day. To say the dress took our breath away as it hung alone in this beautiful room is an understatement. This is the kind of thing that ignites our excitement and sets a tone for the day. As soon as we engage in an event like this our mutual enthusiasms build and carry us off as if we are riding the coastline in a convertible...just pure fun. And then we have at our craft making imagery of all the beauty that comes into view. It is magical, like a fairytale, just like a wedding is supposed to be.

I have to wonder how the wedding celebrations first came to be. It only seems right to gather around a couple in love when they are beginning their life. And that a celebration should include beautiful dresses, and handsome suits, the finest of blooming flowers, a savory meal, music, champagne, dancing, laughter, and all the people that the couple love is so the perfect idea! And to document that so that for years to come these lovers can relive their beginning is why we are here. And I can say that without a doubt I love that my eyes can witness and my camera can capture these amazing moments of life!

Notes to sing about!

Sometimes you just gotta let people know about the good others are doing. My son plays guitar. Several years ago we began noticing a local organization in Upper Bucks County Pa called UBACE, the Upper Bucks Alliance for Creative Expression. At first we saw banners and signs around town for concerts so we bought tickets. The shows were really cool because it was kids/teens playing themed rock concerts under the direction of very talented local musicians. We have since gotten my son involved in UBACE, and he has been playing in their shows for the last two years and enjoying every minute of it. From a parents standpoint I think UBACE is great because it provides a platform to perform but even more importantly for kids, like minded individuals gathered with a common purpose, to bring music to life in our little town. I do not know any other place where such great chances occur for young creative musicians. UBACE is really awesome and I wanted to help to spread the word in the hopes that other young people will learn about it and become involved and help it grow. It is a non profit fully volunteer run organization with a goal of having a building someday soon where kids can come and express themselves freely under the direction of fabulous talented mentors! She's Got the Look!

We really do strive to make senior portraits of a different style here at The Moment Photography. By devouring fashion magazines on a daily basis our style has really come to embrace the look of today's fashion advertising market. Recently we had the pleasure of photographing a Megan whose looks are so utterly appealing that we think she should be the next model for Ralph Lauren or Calvin Klein! Having fun while shooting is one of the ways our subjects relax and thus their natural beauty shines through. By utilizing real backgrounds on the streets around our studio the images have a genuine quality. With the studio shots we aim for more high drama poses that transform our subjects from everyday kids to stylized versions of themselves that grab the attention of the viewer and evoke great beauty. Sequoya needed a quick photo for a contest

So my daughter Sequoya came over today to get a quick photo to enter a contest. Her coworker Alison created a very hip updo for a Redken Contest. We jumped in and during a few minutes of their lunchbreak from URBAN EDGE SALON which is right across the street from my studio, The Moment Photography, we amped it up and created some cool imagery to enter the contest. A fun surprise to be able to grab some shots of Quoya today as she is ever busy, ever running and I have not gotten the chance to photograph her in quite awhile. Hope they win the contest. I am happy I got to play with her a bit today and create some memorable images!

Each day offers new experiences that expand our horizons and enhance our lives. This afternoon I had the pleasure of creating product photography for Carolyn and Jackie, two of the four women that offer their jewelry for plants at http://www.beadifulstuffstore.com/. Photographing their sparkly and so pretty beaded creations was enjoyable on several levels. As I captured the light of the sun illuminating the beads it was easy to see how their product greatly enhances the hanging plant or flower. While working I loved hearing the story of their collaboration in their business venture and listening to the history of friendship they have with one another and their families. One of the neatest things about being a photographer is meeting people and hearing their tales of life. You always learn something! This is what I love to do! My camera and me are one and the same. I love to see through it all the beauty of others and our amazing world. If every could take the time to slow it down a notch and really look at all that is beautiful, you couldn't help but open your heart and breathe in life's beauty.

Today I made images of Sandy in a upstairs prop room at a great theater across the street from my studio, McCoole's Arts And Events Place. The light is to die for and sandy was stunning and..my favorite kind of props. Things that are just there, old stuff part of the background. If we had a set designer it could not have been better. We had a blast though one of these years I want to afford a crew!!! I lifted so much furniture out the way....well a workout is good too, eh!

The Beauty of Pregnancy through the eyes of a Photographer

Many of us go through pregnancy experiencing the wonder while a new life grows within us, and some of us document the beauty of this magnificent time w'ith a maternity portrait session in the latter months of pregnancy. Over the last six years or so I have seen the popularity of maternity portrait sessions grow dramatically. Gone are the days of me suggesting the idea to young recently married women. Instead they are calling the studio specifically to set up a session. They know they want to capture the beauty of their bodies as they carry a new life that's just waiting to be born.

Nowadays women see these images in magazines or have seen their friends imagery and realize how special it is to have photographs that illustrate artistically the magic of being pregnant. Certainly I photograph women by themselves in the sessions, but more often we are including the Fathers to be as well. It is just so cool to not only capture, but be trusted enough to bare witness to a couple's togetherness highlighting the awe they each feel at the baby growing inside that will soon enter our world and be a living, breathing person! It's just awesome! Yes I am fortunate in being a photographer! Being allowed to be so involved with love, and new life is a such a glorious part of my job, and I feel it so intently that I honestly believe it empowers me to reach in deep and try new things to make the best imagery I can. I love the circle of trust and beauty and love that we travel in while creating the photographic art of personal human history.

Before a shoot we talk of likes and dislikes and ideas etc to get the most out of our session. It's a mutual process that brings the best results.

What is a WaxWorks Photograph?

Waxworks is a form of encaustic (bees wax) mixed media painting process created by highly acclaimed artist, Leah MacDonald. The Moment Photography is now offering our clients an extraordinary product that merges a photographic image with this unique art process. An ancient Greek technique, encaustic painting features the use of beeswax and paint pigment and liquid resin to create a truly unique piece of artwork, and transforming normal photographs into tactile pieces of art.

The WaxWork above is a clients daughter in honor of her First Holy Communion. Here is what her Mom had to say about the photography experience and the finished product.

“ Terree made my daughter’s First Holy Communion portrait experience one that was fun and creative. Expecting an eight year old to stay composed in a photo studio for a period of time can be tricky. Terree allowed my daughter to branch out in her own creative expression and give light-hearted, fun, pretty and silly poses. I had a tough time selecting among the poses for her portrait as they were all amazingly beautiful. Terree and I worked together to select the special one that became a “waxed-finish” portrait which is truly a timeless work of art, and we then were able to put together a photo book that encompasses all of her photos that I had such a hard time choosing from. That way I was able to hold on to all of the poses that I loved and did not have to part with them.
Working with Terree is always a pleasure for any photo occasion. She is always professional and approachable and allows you to be “you” in front of the camera.

It's Important to have a good headshot!

Austin's First Holy Communion

It's the time of year when we see many young children in the studio to photograph in their special clothing in recognition of their First Holy Communion. This season has been delightful with wonderful happy kids all polished and ready to be captured by the camera as their mothers stand by smiling ear to ear and brimming with joy and pride! This is one of those special rewarding times that motherhood offers to us as a rich and rewarding payback! I cannot help be moved by the joyous feelings that fly around the camera room as little boys and little girls give us their best smiles as well as terrific pieces of their emerging personalities! Just one more reason that I love my job as a photographer! Presenting Austin....and the words below of his adoring Mom, Jillian!

Referred to The Moment Photography by a friend, I was quite confident that my impression of the service and product would be great. However, to use the word "great" to summarize the actual experience my son and I have had would be a complete understatement...the service has been extraordinary and my expectations exceeded. From the tiniest detail of scheduling the initial portrait session, to the delivery of the finished products, this has been an experience that I will not soon forget.

I hired The Moment Photography to capture portraits of my son, Austin, for his first Holy Communion. Terree's eye for detail and true vision created not only beautiful portraits, but also works of art that will be cherished in my family for years to come. She was able to capture images of Austin that depict all of the characteristics that comprise his personality, yet not one aspect of the reverence and dignity of the "theme" of the session was compromised...so much so, that it has been nearly impossible to narrow down which photographs to purchase. They are all amazing! I have also been equally impressed at the turn-around time from session to product delivery. Terree was aware that we were looking for expedient delivery and she made it her priority to screen the photos and upload them for viewing in an incredibly short amount of time. The photos were delivered on time for the event and were proudly displayed on the day of his first Communion for our family and friends to enjoy. I couldn't have been more grateful.

Terree's style is easy-going, laid back and fun. She had my 9-year old wrapped around her finger and her capable directives were care-free and exciting for him...he enjoyed the session from beginning to end. Her talent in photography seems yet to be paralleled as I've had studio portraits taken of Austin in the past. I can't imagine another significant occasion occurring in my life without choosing The Moment Photography, and most especially, Terree, to capture those moments.

The Prom Dress Sessions

Wow photographing young people is so much fun! Getting to experience and artistically capture the beauty of youth is so worthwhile! This season we started something new at the studio. Most high school senior girls bring a prom dress to their photo sessions and we always enjoy making very cool imagery of girls in their gowns. What's new about it is that we have created a new type of session called The Prom Dress Sessions in which we photograph the young girls with a heavy fashion edge and really make strong images that express their youth, their beauty, showcase the fantastic dresses and capture the strength of who they are! Now you know! Grab your dress and give us a call to schedule a session and be photographed like a fashion model! Oh and we have great packages or collections designed by a high school senior to address what young girls really want to have from their sessions. A Really Great Personal Moment

Oh my I am so honored and so delighted! This week I was the recipient of a very special award, The Most Inspirational Business Woman of Bucks County. The Womens Business Forum http://www.womensbusinessforum.org/ is the Doylestown Organization that gives the award. A really great organization that mentors and supports women in business with 2x monthly meetings. Always a room full of talented, strong, successful women at each of the meetings, they embrace all women and do not charge a fee to attend the meetings or join the organization. Though you may get involved as a supporting member. I just feel so good that many of my contemporaries thought enough of me to speak up and give me a vote! It is a powerful feeling and I couldn't be more proud!

One of the most beautiful things occurred recently. I met a wonderful woman named Dawn and her dog Jody and photographed them together here in our studio. Jody was a long time companion of Dawn's and very much loved. She told me of his old age and a recent operation he had and she was glad she was able to get in with him to have pictures made of them together. We all enjoyed ourselves as Jody was playfully calm and very in tune to his friend Dawn. Many times in our sessions, people become emotional because it is a very special thing to be photographed together and to be interacting in such a lovely way all the while wanting to document the beautiful relationship that exists between family or friends, or pets. So I felt very good about the kind of images we were making and I felt honored that I got to do this important job of making the pictures that Dawn will long enjoy in her life. It was a good session and Dawn was very pleased with the way it had gone though she had not seen an image yet. Not long after a session I received a call that Jody had passed away. Although he was an old dog and we knew he would not be around for long, this was still extremley sad news. I could tell of Dawn's pain and my heart went out to her. I thought of Jody alot and I was happy that they were able to get in and that we were able to make these great images before he died. Shorty after I learned of Jody's passing, a friend of Dawn's called the studio and asked to order a photo book of many of the images as a surprise gift for Dawn from her girlfriends. One of them stopped by and dropped of a card to put with the book for Dawn. To me this was such a loving gesture by friends that loved Dawn and Jody and knew of his importance in her life! That gift brought such tears to her eyes when she opened it and realized what her friends had done. None of them was there to experience her reaction to the photographs, so I felt compelled to tell the story here in our little post of the world in hopes that it inspires others to recognize love and feel good from the expression of it! Thank you Dawn for coming into to our studio and for sharing the relationship of your self and Jody. We wish you loving memories!

Making the most of all the Moments

So many of the most wonderful feelings emerge inside of me as a result of doing the work I do. Being a photographer has allowed me to learn many new things about people, places, and things, as well as afforded me many great experiences. One such experience is baring witness to the joy in people's lives. This Valentine's Day was Amy McHale's 1st birthday, and lucky for me her parents had me photograph this landmark birthday. What made this extra special for all of us, (Amy's parents, John and Carolyn) was the fact that I have been capturing their most special and precious moments for several years now. A few years back I documented their wedding day. After that came the birth of their first baby, a son, Aidan and I got to photograph him as well!

When Carolyn made the appointment for us to photograph little Amy, she mentioned how much fun it has been for them celebrating all of their special occasions at our studio. Yes and so much fun for me as well to watch them go from a happy couple just beginning their life together to parents of two little ones. I feel very honored that they have chosen to allow me to capture all these very special times in their lives. There is nothing more important than those we love. And making photographs for people to look back on and remember the milestones, the special times is just one of the best ways to be spending my time!

How cute is little Amy, the Valentine Baby Girl! She was completely on the move at her first photo shoot constantly walking off our set. It was all to our delight as she entertained us completely as we tried to offer her numerous props to grab her attention. Funny thing she did not like the beautiful rose Carolyn had bought for her. Instead her colorful toys were what she preferred as we made the images that she and her family will look back on for years to come, remembering her very first birthday! So glad we made the images in our studio!

Truly Experience the Moments
As we strive to make better choices for our planet, the green consciousness has ushered in new choices in florals and photography.
Inspired through a collaborative effort, Lyn Hicks of Harmony Hill Gardens located in Hilltown, Pennsylvania and Terree Yeagle of The Moment Photography in Quakertown, Pennsylvania, began to realize how the trend of naturalization and back to basics applied to each of their respective business markets.
In the past year, Lyn noticed her clients becoming more interested in where and how their flowers were grown. As a floral designer, Lyn has been a forerunner of green events with her organically grown flowers on her Bucks County farm so it was natural for her to offer brides the chance to experience the garden and discover for themselves the beauty of the specialty cut flowers. The process of deciding on which types of floral to include on their wedding day has definitely become more of an experience than just a floral selection.
Using professional wedding photography, couples are chronicling their romance in stunning new ways: really experiencing one another and having it captured by the camera so their love stories are remembered as a wedding journey not only a wedding day. Similarly, where Lyn talks of her brides wanting to fully take part in their floral selections, today’s wedding couples are requesting off-site location shoots tailored to their individual personalities and lifestyles. For example, boudoir photography has re-emerged to involve both the prospective bride and groom being photographed in intimate settings such as their bedrooms, hotel suites, and around their own homes. Couples are deciding to have their photographer document move-in day, wedding showers, and even the actual engagement!
The trend relates to Eckart Tolle's recent book, The Power of Now, in that couples are wanting to experience the whole wedding process rather than just checking items off a list for the big day. Taking the time to walk through a garden; seeing the flowers you will be using growing and even recording that adventure photographically is one of the new and unique ways today’s couples are really being present during their year long experience building to the actual wedding day. It's the journey -- not the destination. Instead of strictly following tradition, couples are expressing their individuality and creativity on their special day by their awareness of the process and the addition of green elements. And imagine, photographs made in your wedding dress before the big day on the farm where your flowers are being grown. What a lovely idea!
